Chur Burger is all the rage now. It’s Kiwi ‘as’ and serves up drunks and chups with delicious sides and milkshakes. It’s biggest drawcard? That $10 price tag. Which is a big one considering the burgers are made fresh to order sizzling and flipped right in front of you.
If you’re anything like me and were perhaps none the wise. Chur is slang for awesome in NZ and so far the place lives up to the name.
During one of our lunch hours, I was invited to join Tina (bitemeshowme) and Simon (theheartoffood) for a quick bite.
After reading Tina’s post on these bad boys I knew that they had to be mine. The chicken wings ($10) were as I had hoped and absolutely delicious. The bbq sauce was sweet and tangy juxtaposing nicely against the cool tang and creaminess of the sauce. I was also pleasantly surprised to see how the blue cheese really came through in the sauce. Easily the best blue cheese dressing out there!
Doing what bloggers do best, we shared all the burgers between us. In fact, we shared everything!
Out of all the burgers, I was most impressed with the fish burger ($10). I think this was because it surprised me? It was delicate with the pickled cucumber yet crispy with the crumbed fillets. The flavour of that creamy lemon mayo and dill made it a sure fire success. Unquestionably, one of the best fish burgers I’ve ever had. The beef burger ($10) is like your typical cheese burger. The beef also delivers with its juicy beef pattie, tomato jam, mustard mayo, cheese and pickles all wedged in between a brioche bun. Need I say no more? That’s just good wholesome eating right there.
The pulled pork burger ($10) was less successful. There is no question over the quality of the produce, we just felt that it was missing a bit of punch, some smokiness, something creamy even? Which was a shame as this was the burger I was most excited about. Simon and I shared the salted caramel milkshake ($8). Even though I thought this really hit the spot, I did think that the price tag was a bit steep considering what you could get with a 10 dollar note. I don’t think a drink should be almost the same price as your main.
Great burgers for $10? It just has to be said and done. Even though the burger itself is great value you just have to be mindful that the sides, snacks and drinks can quickly add up.

Bit disappointed to hear that the pulled pork burger fares the worst, as it actually looks the best! Oh well, dropping by soon for the beef one, and the chicken wings woohoo!
Yes def get the chicken wings and you cant go wrong w the beef burger 🙂
Yum can’t beat a good chicken wing, and the fish burger sounds great!
Love a good wing!!
Always great catching up with you. Popped your cherry for ramen ikkyu and chur burger. I’m feeling kinda spetholllllllllll 😉
Hahahaha or maybe I am the one who should be feeling spethhal! You’re my first!! Lol
Indeed, the pulled pork burger probably need a bit more sauciness to deliver an extra flavour hit – underseasoning shucks!
Other than that Chur is awesome, especially at $10 a pop!
agreed, agreed, agreed!
Ah, such great stuff. You always remember your first. Happy to be your first buddy along with you 🙂
Looking forward to many more firsts!! Thanks for having me along, was a great lunch!
I’m a chur beef burger man all the way! I kinda miss their old set up at the back and having to go through a back lane to get there lol nice photos.
Yeah beef is good there’s no doubt about it. I never got the chance to see the old set up I am afraid.
The beef burger, for me, is definitely the pick of the lot. Love that melts cheese! Great write up!
