So I’ve come back from London and I’ve come back feeling a bit blurghh. If you knew what I did, you would know why! I’m never one to shy away from a bit of indulgence, especially on holiday mode but I knew my body wasn’t in a good way. My body was sluggish, craving all the bad foods and wanting more, more, more!

The silly season is soon upon us and I thought I would go in for a pre-season detox. I will be embarking on a 5 day juice detox. Before you think I’ve gone right mad. Keep an open mind, just as I did. I too felt the same way, until I watched a documentary film called “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” which totally turned me around. You can watch this on YouTube here. It follows the journey of fellow Aussie, Joe Cross who conducts a 60 day juice fast to regain his health in an attempt to combat his debilitating and rare auto-immune deficiency including his dependency on steroids. You will be pleasantly surprised at the results. I urge you to keep an open mind and check it out. It is life changing and very inspiring.

Now to the cleanse

I’ve done a juice detox a couple of times before. I’ve completed the 7Ibs in 7 days by Jason Vale ( I just used the app) and I’ve also worked at a juice bar so I am really comfortable with playing around with juice blends and doing it DIY.

The benefits I saw from this included:

– brighter eyes

– glowing skin (people who didn’t know I was detoxing, asked me why my skin was looking so great)

– nicer hair

– loads of energy (I would literally leap out of bed, if you knew me I am not a morning person at all)

– deeper sleep (I would sleep 5-6 hours, less than usual and I’d be out like a light)

– my chronic back pain went away due to the all the magnesium I was feeding my body

– clearer mind (I was more effective at work)

– weight loss

– overall, I felt pretty damn amazing!

This time round

I’ve decided to outsource the whole thing. I felt pretty lazy and I knew I wouldn’t be in the right head space to do this. Jet lag and all. Still I wanted to do this as soon I was back. I chose Lucky You Cleanse because it is cold pressed and organic. The benefit of cold pressed is that the fruit and veg is unpasteurised  or cut like a regular juicer thereby helping it to preserve the inherent nutrients, enzymes and antioxidants at their very optimum. Their juices are at the higher price range but I figured I might as well go all out!

So far I am more than half way through my cleanse. While I have experienced some ups and downs, I’ve decided to go an extra day before Melbourne Cup, making it 6 days in total. You can follow my day-to-day updates on my Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

In my upcoming post, I will be doing a wrap up of the cleanse. The challenges, the benefits and a full review on the Lucky You Cleanse range. If you have any burning questions, please let me know and I will answer these in the next post!

If you have done this before, I’d love to hear about your journey. Or if you watched the film, what did you think?

Happy juicing!

Wow you are my inspiration! I can’t make even make it through the first hour of a juice diet. I usually have my green juice with my breakfast I get too hungry.

    • Aww Belle that is so sweet of you to say! Really it’s you who inspires me!

First day, you are usually more hungrier but just have another juice and you will be so full! Over time your body will need less and less juice because your body will be able to distinguish between real hunger. Your body kind of re-calibrates itself!

This all sounds very interesting. I think something like this would be good for me too. Despite how much exercise I indulge in way too much crap.

  4. What a great body refresh Priscilla, I’m intrigued to hear your results when you’ve finished it.

I’m sure your body has been sending you some amazing signals but so worth it, well done for doing this.

i know so many people doing these diets! im a bit skeptical tho, i rather just balance out my meals leading up to the silly season, i love my food too much!

    • I know what you mean… I was skeptical at first but I did my research including using myself as a lab rat to test out the results. And I simply swear by it!
I think because I love my food so much, this is why I do it. As much as I love eating, I love knowing that I am feeding body with nutrients and anti-cancer fighting oxidants. Most cancers and diseases are diet related so I do this to rebalance myself. I juice all the time!!

Perfect time to cleanse! Especially when summer is just around the corner 😛

  7. Sorry about my ignorance, but do you have a serving of juice in place of every meal during the cleanse e.g. three servings of juice a day?

    • I’d say have as much as you would like. Joe cross who did it for 60 days and had 3 litres a day. So I would recommend taking to 500ml per sitting. But again just have it until you are full. Let ur body be your guide. I started on 3litres struggled and ended up needing less and less!
